Another Brick in the Wall

Continuous improvement is the key to bring sustainability in any field. As a matter of fact, the world changes as much as we improve process and people. To keep being part of this world in a harmonic way we need to observe the movement and be able to listen to it. Yes, it is possible to listen to. How? Stop talking. It is easy to say and hard to practice because most of time it means a change of heart, leaving a comfort zone and losing the control to lead better.
Our pupils, the new generation, are claiming for being listened to when they say nothing or ignore things we impose to them doing in our way. That certainly have a reason why and they are not able to explain it clearly at that age. As educators, instructors, counselors or parents we need to be ready for new challenges that demand new competences to deal with. Being an open-minded person and ready to relearn are essential abilities at this level of the process.
Some appeals that drew my attention as an educator and career expert are the following videos that I share below. There are so many information in them with a variety of possibility to be answered using such little effort. So I ask to myself what we are waiting for to put them in practice and take advantage of it in order to boost their learning process the way they expect. Why not let them make choices when those choices depend on our flexibility?
It seems that I can still hear that old song (or still new) in my mind. I am sure I do not want to be just another brick in their wall.
This project was created to inspire teachers to use technology in engaging ways to help students develop higher level thinking skills. Equally important, it serves to motivate district level leaders to provide teachers with the tools and training to do so.
Pupils from Robin Hood primary school, Birmingham, worked with a film crew from the National College for School Leadership to express their desire to use their favorite technologies for learning in school.
This video shows students from Hillcrest Elementary School in the Revere Local Schools and their messages about learning in the 21st Century. It was inspired by another video titled "Engage Me".

  2. Thank you, my dear. I think it is really important to think about and choose a position and role we want to play in this process once we cannot ignore or even avoid it.

  4. I am not sure how bad it is for their eyes. I have heard something from a doctor about having no proofs in fact that support this question. Anyway, we have to be care about pupils' eyes whether they are reading by a screen or not. And balance is always a good choice in whatever we do. Thank you for sharing your opinion, my dear.
